Mr. George Schmachtenberger, of Union Township, died last Tuesday, march 31st, aged 28 years, 7 months and 29 days. He was a man of good repute, industrious and wel liked by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and two daughters and five sisters to mourn his loss. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place on Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, at the Union Chursh, on the Turkey Creek Road, Rev. Norris officiating.

In 1877 Mr. Schmachtenberger was united in marriage to Miss Christena B. Smeltz, who was born in Seneca county, Ohio, being a daughter of Jacob and Barbara (Lebold) Smeltz, who were pioneers of that county.
